Long Life Prayers for our Geshes
ReturnCorrectly devoting to the virtuous friend is the root of the path to enlightenment. If we don’t know how important it is, nothing can happen. It is the root of all realizations from here up to enlightenment, on the Hinayana path to achieve nirvana and the Mahayana sutra and tantra paths to achieve enlightenment. If we correctly follow the virtuous friend with thought and action, if the root is there, we can have success up to enlightenment.

དགེ་བའི་ལམ་སྣ་འདྲེན་པའི་དེད་དཔོན་མཆོག །
ལེགས་བཤད་དམ་པ་སྟེར་བའི་ཉིན་མོར་བྱེད། །
ཆོས་ཀྱི་མཛའ་བ་མི་གཏོང་བཤེས་གཉེན་མཆོག །
གྲགས་པ་སྤོང་བའི་བླ་མ་ཞབས་བརྟན་ཅིག །
Ge wäi lam na dren päi de pön chhog
Leg shä dam pa ter wäi nyin mor je
Chhö kyi dza wa mi tong she nyen chhog
Drag pa pong wäi la ma zhab tän chig
Supreme guide, you lead us on the many paths of virtue.
A shining sun, you give us the best of excellent explanations.
Supreme virtuous friend, you are a constant Dharma companion.
Lama who has renounced fame, may you ever remain.
Guía supremo, nos conduces por múltiples caminos de virtud.
Un sol resplandeciente, das la mejor de las excelentes explicaciones.
Supremo amigo virtuoso, eres un constante compañero de Dharma.
Lama que ha renunciado a la fama, que siempre permanezcas.

དགེ་བའི་ཆོས་ཀྱི་བག་ཆགས་རབ་བརྟན་ཅིང་། །
དཔལ་ལྡན་བླ་མའི་གདམས་ངག་སྙིང་ལ་བཅངས། །
བཟང་པོའི་བྱ་བས་ཉིན་མཚན་འདའ་བྱེད་པའི་། །
བཤེས་གཉེན་ཆེན་པོ་སྐུ་ཚེ་རབ་བརྟན་ཅིག །
Ge wäi chhö kyi bag chhag rab tän ching
Päl dän la mäi dam ngag nying la chang
Zang pöi ja wä nyin tshän da je päi
She nyen chhen po ku tshe rab tän chig
You who have steadfast imprints of virtuous qualities,
And keep the instructions of the glorious guru in your heart;
You who pass day and night with noble activities,
Great virtuous friend, may you have a very long life.
Tú, que tienes huellas inquebrantables de cualidades virtuosas
Y sostienes las instrucciones del glorioso gurú en tu corazón;
Tú, que llevas a cabo actividades nobles día y noche;
Gran amigo virtuoso, que tengas una vida muy larga.
